Problems printing labels

I am trying to print individual labels in Word 2007 but everytime I do so the
left hand part of each line is missing and it starts part way through each
line. I have double checked the label details and have even tried on an Avery
Label A4/A5 L7560 but the same thing happens.

I hope you can suggest a remedy.

If you do a Print Preview, does the text appear in the correct position?  If
so, it would seem that the paper is being fed into the printer incorrectly.
Also however check the "Scale to paper size" setting in the File>print
dialog.  If the page is being re-sized from A4 to Letter size (which is
wider than A4), I can imagine that the text is being shifted to the left and
then part of it might not appear on the label.

If none of these things allow you to overcome the problem, you could format
the paragraphs so that there is a left indent to move the text to the right.

I am also having this problem trying to print a page of the same label.
There is no print preview for label printing.  None of the page setup
settings affect label formatting, nor does the paragraph format.

Just to be clear, here is what I am doing:
1. The document contains four lines that I want to have printed on all 30
labels of a sheet of Avery 5160 labels using Word 2007.

2. Click on the Mailings tab.  On the very left is a box with the label
"Create".  In it are two options, "Envelopes" and "Labels".  I click on
Labels.

3. This brings up a dialog box that shows me the text for the label.  In the
"Print" panel there are options for "Full page of the same label" (which is
checked), or "Single label".  In the Label panel It shows "Avery US Letter,
5160".

4. There are buttons for: Print, New Document, Options, and E-postage.
Print will send the document to the printer with no additional dialog box.
Options alows you to set which paper tray to use, and which label template to
use.  The details button in this box will allow you to adjust the size and
placement of the labels.

Ok, so if I hit print, my sheet of labels is printed with the first three
lines shifted to the left about .3" (by guestimate).  The fourth line is
printed in the correct position. I have ensured that all four lines are
individual paragraphs, and all have the exact same paragraph format.  I have
modified that paragraph format every way I can find (I am NOT a novice Word
user) to no avail.  I have changed fonts. Neither Cambria nor Times New Roman
makes a difference.

In the label details dialog box (where it shows a picture of the label and
allows you to adjust things like "Side margin", and "Horizontal pitch"), I
tried increasing the side margin by .3", but it will not allow me to change
that setting because then the print area exceeds the page size (and it will
not accept it).  If I try to ajust the label size to compensate, my third
column of labels will be far enough off that the right side of the label will
be cut off.  That's just shifting my problem to the other side of the page.

Anyone have any ideas how to make this work?  I do enough of this sort of
thing that I don't want to have to paste an address 29 times every time I
need to change the address on my sheet of labels...

Instead of Print, select New Document and then you will get a document with
one page of the labels.  You can then make any changes to the formatting
that you require.

We've had the same issues.  If you have an old Word 2003 label template or
document, you can use that and save as a docx or dotx.  That will take care
of it.  Use it as you main document each time.

The easier way is change your your Style Set  to 'Traditional' after you
complete the merge.  That moves you left margin over.  Go to Home tab, Change
Styles and use the arrow down key to get to the various ones.

Word 2003 did the same thing using a PCL 6 print driver so we had to revert
back to PCL5.  With 2007 we're forced to use the PCL6 drivers because of the
newer default fonts being used such as Calibri and Cambria.  Usng PCL5 may
result in strange character printing on some of the built in headers and
footers and envelopes.

Either way is easier than Microsoft's work around.
