Apparently Word 2003 opens all email attachments in Reading Layout as the
default. I can't seem to find an option to have it open in any other mode,
like Page Layout. Is there any way anyone has found to change this behavior?
I suspect that is t is somehow realted to security, but I can't find the
right search keywords to get the answer from the KnowledgeBase.

In Microsoft Word, go to Tools > Options > General (tab), uncheck "Allow
starting in Reading Layout.

I have found this in the word 2003 help

/*

Prevent reading layout view from opening automatically when you receiv
a Word document in e-mail: On the Tools menu, click Options, click th
General tab, and then clear the Allow starting in Reading Layout chec
box.

*/

However this only works for the machine that you do it on. It does no
set it in the document. I am going to try and find a solution when
get time this week. It is not good enough for us, our users should no
have to change views when they open our docs

i'll hopefully be posting an answer soo
