how can I trnsfer a mail merge set of documents,
including source data, labels for printing and fields to
a new lap top with windows xp.  I have the whole thing on
floppy disk but can't find where to place it in microsoft
word.

The My Documents folder would do.  But I would put them in the Word
Documents Folder as defined under Tools Options File Locations.  When you
open the mailmerge main document, you will probably have to re-attach the
datasource.  If Word cannot find it, a dialog box should appear that gives
you the option to open the data source.
