Hello all.
We have a perplexing problem here with Word 2000 piggy-
backing off Outlook 2000. We have these forms in Word set
up as templates. We have them set up and pre-addressed to
send as email to a specific group mailing address
depending on which form we are using at the time. It
works fine the first time we use this form. But these
forms are generally the type that we need to send at one
time to open the condition, and send a second time to
close. The period of time between opening and closing
could be hours to weeks of time.
Then, if we need to update the form, the email result
is "Undeliverable" because "No transport provider was
available for delivery to this recipient."
Now, I believe the re-edited forms do work in some cases -
like you just sent the first one not too long ago and was
still logged from then. The problem comes when you log in
to reedit someone else's initial form, or one from days
ago. You bring up the form from archive with the group
addresses already on the form from the initial form
entry. We then have to delete the names on the form and
reenter them to get them to work.
I suspect that Word is trying to access the original
address book / postoffice profile and doesn't have
authorization so the addresses are considered invalid even
though they exist in your address book. It's just a guess
so far... what do you think? Is there a way to get it to
work without error?
In effort to better explain my predicament...
We have a word template here where I work. It is a report
we send out to a group of people on occasion. Let's call
it a trouble-ticket for argument's sake.
The first person gets onto the template, the "To:"
and "CC:" spaces are already filled in with the
appropriate mailing groups. The person completes the rest
of the form, detailing the trouble, then saves the file,
sends it, and closes it.
The second person comes in later and finds he has to
update the trouble-ticket. He opens the previously saved
document, showing "To:" and "CC:" still filled out with
the appropriate mailing groups. He makes changes,
additions, whathaveyou to the form, saves it, sends it,
and gets an error back:
"Undeliverable: <filename>
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended
recipients..."
and it goes on to list all groups addressed. Now, if
second person goes back into the template, removes the
groups in "To:" and "CC:", then reenters them, the message
goes out fine.
What I think is happening is that the document is somehow
storing who it thinks should be accessing their address
book. Then when person #2 comes in, it finds out that
he's not the right person and denies access to the address
book. Does that sound right?
