I have an word letter merged to an excel file that does not exist any more. I
have created a new excel file. How do I change the data source in OFFICE
2003. It used to work very easily in Word 2000. What is different? This is
a rush. Help!!

In Word, from the View menu, select Toolbars and check the Mail Merge item
to display the mailmerge toolbar. Then use the second button from the left
to attach the (new) data source to the main document.

From the merge toolbar, simply select the new data source (second button
from the left).
