Hi everyone,

I hope you can help. I have an Access MDB and I'd like to extract the
records for mail merging directly from within Access.I've set up the
macro which calls up Word from within Access with the appropriate data
on two of my machines and it works perfectly, but on two others I get
the following error message.

" The method or property is not available because the current mail
merge main document needs a data source".

I have no idea what could be causing this or what I need to do to
resolve it, moreso as two machines run perfectly well with, I believe,
all 4 having the same settings!

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Unfortunately, you haven't specified which version of Word you're
working with, so we can only guess that...

What you're seeing is a result of what's discussed in this article

"Opening This Will Run the Following SQL Command" Message When You Open
a Word Document - 825765
http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=825765

When this security option is active, and a mail merge document is opened
using code, the data source is automatically removed from the document.
In this case you have two choices:
1. Set the Registry key mentioned in the article to suppress the
security measure

2. Link back up to the data source after opening the document

Cindy,

Many thanks for this, I really appreciate that. Sorry for omitting my
Word version, what a basic error! It's 2003, for the record.

Again, many thanks.

Best regards,

Dave.
