I have a form with a field that a person enters the date. Is it possible to
have the field automatically format a certain way no matter how the person
enters the date, like Excel does?

Provided they enter a valid date format then yes.  Unlock the form and
double-click the field.  Select "Field type" as Date and set the
desired format.

Great! That worked. Another question...

Is it possible to split a field into two sections with specific lengths or
to have a field become the active field once the limit of the previous field
is reached? I have a table that has extra rows for "by hand" input. I need
the field to continue on the same row.

Thanks
