Change a recipient list in Word mail merge?  It won't let me do.

I am trying to create envelopes using the mail merge in Word and a
spreadsheet in Excel.  I try to select a different list and it won't work.  
An old list keeps coming up.  I can't find any way to get the new list
accepted.

What version of Word are you using, and exactly how are you going about
trying to select a different list?
