Hi Everyone,

When I attempt to add the \*upper switch to my label main doc I cannot seem
to get Word to keep the switch.  It appears to revert back to the field
without my added \*upper switch.

Thanks in advance

How is the field formatted?
I assume that you mean that it doesn't appear to work rather than the switch
doesn't remain?
Does the field have a \*mergeformat switch also? Remove that and replace it
with a \*charformat switch.
You may even have to add a \*lower switch before the \*upper switch to force
it to behave.

Hi Graham,

Thank you for your response.

When I include any switches ie (\*upper) in the Word Label main doc then
click Update all Labels the switch \*upper is stripped out of the Label main
doc i.e. it reverts back to the original field without my added \*upper
switch.

The merged data is from Outlook contacts.

Thank you in advance

Where are you inserting the switch?  You need to toggle on the display of
field codes (Alt + F9) and then insert it before the closing }

Yes, am already viewing the field code then inserting \*upper but still no
luck.

I know of no mechanism whereby a field switch is stripped from the
mergefield.
The field must look like
{ Mergefield fieldname} before adding the switch { Mergefield fieldname
\*upper }
and  not <<fieldname>>
Press CTRL+F9 and enter the field manually between the brackets
