Ever since we went from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 sp2 we have had sever
performance problems with our mass merge emailings (approx 15,000-20,000
emails). This is on dual processsor Dell with XP pro with high bandwith,
local smtp server (we are a university). Once the merge is completed and the
Outbox has the 15-20 thousand emails in it, Outlook 2003 only sends out
emails at about 26 emails before stopping for 2-3 minutes, then another 26
then stops for 2-3 minutes (this cycle continues a indeterminte amount of
times before it just stops sending altogether). Rebooting restarts the same
pattern, then eventually no amount of rebooting will get the messages to send
out of the outbox. Scanpst shows no errors.
Is anyone using Outlook 2003 for mass emailings and getting the same
performance that they used to with earlier versions of Outlook?
We used Outlook 2002 for years and it could process 15-20 thousand emails in
about 4 hours, Outlook 2003 takes days, multiple reboots and then leaves
messages stuck in the outbox and will only send if opened individually and
send is hit.
Thanks for your responses.

Gary - I may be wrong but I doubt if anyone here will be able to help with
this problem as none of us is an MS employee. In this case I would submit a
support incident to MS via their website (or via any support agreement your
organisation may have with Microsoft).

Thanks Peter,
Im not so much looking for an answer to my problem at this point, but trying
to determine if this is a unique case or if any other mailmergers out there
are having simlar problems with large volume emailing out of Outlook 2003.
