Can't get mailmerge in Word 2000 to print

When i use the mail merge on the Tools menu i can successfully complete the 3
steps of the mail merge helper and the resulting document looks great. But,
i can not get it to print. The printer light starts flashing and continues
forever. This is the only problem i have with this printer.

Merge to a new document and print that - I suspect the printer is expecting
a manual input from this merge (e.g labels or envelopes).
