Word 2002 & MailMerge Envelope Printing

I used the wizard to set up the mailmerge for my envelopes, but it wants to
print them left justified at the top of the envelope instead of the middle of
the envelope (printing on envelopes that have a return address already).
I've looked at help and can't find anything to show how to make it print the
delivery address where it should go - I've tried resetting the indent & down
from top figures to no avail. I'm stumped.

I don't know why it's going wrong - perhaps a template needs fixing.But...

Once you have set up the envelope, make sure Word Tools|Options|View|Text
boundaries is checked. Then you should be able to see the border of a Frame
where Word is supposed to put the address. You should be able to grab the
edge with the mouse and move it, or select the frame, right-click, format
frame and change its postion on the page in the dialog box.

However, if you don't see a frame let us know (you can insert one to help
you position your text, but the Insert frame button isn't on any of the
standard toolbars - go to Word Tools|Customize|Commands, select category All
Commands, locate InsertFrame (I think) in the list of commands and drag it
to a suitable toolbar.

You are putting your merge fields on the page rather than in the envelope
address frame. This is the fault of the wizard.
If you display formatting (CTRL+* or click ¶) you will see the ¶ in the
middle of the envelope. Put your cusror on that to display the frame. Enter
your fields in the frame.

have already tried these suggestions - I start out in the frame but as soon
as I insert either the address block or trying my own fields, the firstname
field, the cursor immediately pops out of the box and back up to the left
hand corner of the envelope. Still stumped.....

Don't use the addressblock - it rarely works as you might require. Use the
individual fields.
Forget about the wizard - it is more hindrance than help. Use the merge
toolbar (see http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm ). It
might also help to start with an envelope document. You can download a
template from my web site that you could use as a start point. Set the merge
document type to envelope (or letters) and insert your fields in the frame.
If the cursor is jumping out of the frame, the implication is that there is
something amiss with the frame. You could try applying the Envelope Address
paragraph style to your address, which will put it in the right place, but
that would cause conflict with the original frame - which may then force a
blank envelope after each record.
