Using Mail Merge to create labels from a SQL database was easy in Word 2000.
The latest in Office XP is painful.  My SQL database has over 20000 records.
I was able to key on the 'date entered' field or on a logical Y/N field to
select data.  It seems this is no longer possible.  Now I have to wait 20
minutes to get the drop down list to check boxes to retreive records.

I don't know if there is a solution to your problem, but how are you making
the connection to your data source in Word XP? Are you still using ODBC or
are you using OLE DB?  Is there any performance difference between the two?
