Somehow I turned on a fax monitor in XL. It keeps popping up how do I turn it off? Try Windows Start|All programs|Accessories|Communications|Fax|Fax Console|Tools|Fax Monitor, then uncheck "Keep this dialog visible at all times". It isn't an area I'm particularly familiar with, but have you restarted Windows since making the change? (NB, in the Microsoft Communities website, MS has named this group "Mailmerge and Fax" or some such, but it's really about "Mailmerge and Fields").
