mailing list last name column

I am trying to create mailing labels using the mailmerge feature. When I
preview the labels they look great but the last name is not appearing even
though it was present on the list I selected from.

Does the last name appear in the preview? What happens if you print to a
plain sheet of paper rather than to label stock, or if you execute the merge
to a new document rather than to the printer?

What version of Word are you using?
