I have mail merge word doc, which links a different excel sheet
dependant on the merge data.  I need to refine this so that the link
is based on the name of the sheet and the data in one of the merged
fields.  I.E .... where postcode in the merged doc = "BS28 1PP" insert
the sheet named "BS28 1PP".   I don't know if this can be written into
an IF statement in the Link field. Please ....... any help really
really appreciated!   thanks

Sounds like you are probably trying to perform a "multiple items per
condition (=key field)" mailmerge which Word does not really have the
ability to do:

See the "Group Multiple items for a single condition" item on fellow MVP
Cindy Meister's website at

Or take a look at the following Knowledge Base Article

or at:

Doug, thanks for the links, however, I have tried to impliment the
ideas there, but can't seem to get these methods to work for what I
need .... which is

Where MERGEFIELD LocRef = BOB, link to worksheet BOB, then Where
MERGEFIELD LocRef= FRED, link to worksheet FRED.

However, what is happening is:- Where MERGEFIELD LocRef = FRED,  The
letter is still linked to BOB worksheet and doesn't seem to want to
pick up FRED.  I have tried on seperate workbooks called BOB, FRED
etc, but I still get the same problem.  Again, any advice would be
most gratefully appreciated.
