I am trying to use Word 2003 with an Excel 2003 file to
create mailing labels. When I try to create a
new "source" and select OBDC and then Excel, nothing
happens when I click next.  This seems to work OK on one
of my pc's with Office XP. Is there something that I am
missing or is there a problem with Word 2003.

In Word 2002/2003, "Creating a new source" really means "creating a new
Office Data Connection (.odc) file connected to an existing data source" and
you only really need to use this step for ODBC/OLEDB sources that do not
have file types recognised by Word. However, .xls spreadsheets are
recognised by Word, so you can just locate them in the Select Data Source
dialog, select the .xls, and click Open.

But the process you describe does work here as well and I do not know why it
does not work on your installation.
