I've noticed that in Word XP that whenever a mail merge is performaed
the mail merge toolbar gets automatically shown (even if the merge wa
done through Automation, and not through a visible word window). I
there any way to prevent this from happening? Any help would b
appreciated. -Be

I have to say that here, the mail merge toolbar is not shown unless I
enabled it. It is then shown for any kind of document until I disable it
again (i.e. the appearance of the toolbar is not tied to whether the
document is or is not a mail merge main document as it was in Word 2000 and
earlier).

Can you confirnm that your experience is actually different from this? Could
you perhaps be using a template that has the toolbar configured to appear?
