I should mentioned that I am running on Microsoft Exchange Server and I can
send emails "on behalf" of another email address. I want to e-mail merge and
send from that particular email address. Can that be set as a default for the
"From" address field?

There is no provision in Word to do that. You will need to login to the
mail system as the user in whose name you wish the messages to be sent.

Mmm. I don't beleive there is a password for the name I wish to send messages
from. It's actually a generic email address shared by 5 of us. I will have to
get my IT guys to help to set that up.

Actually, didn't need to worry about passwords. I changed the default account
with no problems. Perfect!

Something you could try: if you use an approach such as the one Doug Robbins
describes at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MailMerge/MergeWithAttachments.htm
then I think you can specify the "Send As" mailbox by specifying
objMailItem.SentOnBehalfOfName = "the mailbox name you want to use"
What happens then depends on what permissions the Exchange Admin. has give
to the currently logged in User. If they have permission to Send on Behalf
As, the mail is sent out with a "Sent on behalf of" address. If they have
permission to Send As, it goes out as if it was from the specified user.
