How do I insert a merge field in subject line

I am creating an email merge and would like to insert the individual account
numbers in the subject line of the email.  How do I insert a merge field into
the subject line?

You can't using the "out-of-the-box" facility.

One way to do it is to use VBA and Word's Mail Merge events to change the
value of the subject line for each e-mail. Another possibility would be to
use Doug Robbins' approach at
