Merge with document protected

I have a merge document with some checkboxes on it. The
only way the check boxes work is if the document
is "protected". If I protect the document, and try to
merge it, the merge fails with an error that the document
fields are protected. This is a form that is being merged
with data from a database. After the merge, the document
is displayed to the screen and the user can type on it and
check the check boxes. If I do not protect the document,
then when the user double clicks the check box, the forms
dialog pops up and they can choose 'checked'
or 'unchecked' to the the box checked, but that is very
annoying to the user and there are about 20 check boxes on
the form. I tried putting a textbox form from the forms
toolbar on the document, but I cannot put the datasource
field in there. It either goes on the doc beside the
textbox or it disappears inside the form and the merege
does not see it. Is there a way to merge and have forms
and checkboxes, and merge all in one document.

Thanks

There's currently another discussion concerning Forms and mailmerge in this
group - I suggest you try to find that and join in. The other discussion was
started by "joey" on 9th December 2003, with title "Trying to use mail merge
on a protected document"
