Wrong date format

I have a database with a "Date" field with this format
"dd-mm-yy" , i need to merge it into a word document but
when i combine the field i get a "date" field with this
format "mm-dd-yy" 8-( It´s wrong, i need it in the
original format "dd-mm-yy". What´s wrong?
