I wish to export an Access 2002 report to Microsoft Word,
but include index entries (XE fields). Does anyone know
the character sequences for the {,} field delimeters?
Thanks!

The field delimeters do not have a character sequence as such. You can
search in Word for them by searching for ^d. To this you can add the field
type that you are searching for eg to search for index fields you would
search for ^d XE.

There's no way to pass field codes to Word as part of a text
string. You'd need to use automation (VBA) to generate
fields.
