Mail Merge and MS ACcess database

I have a client that is using an access database to house
addresses. She uses mail merge to bring in the database
the database will open however she cannot select the edit
button. Any suggestions?

The edit button is disabled in WOrd 2002/2003 for many types of data source.
If you change the connection method (check Tools|Options|General|Confirm
conversion at open, then go through the connection process again and choose
the DDE option when offered) Word will open Access to get its data and you
may find that the edit button at least switches you to the database window.

Which version of Word are we discussing? 2002?

Was this database created in Word 2002, using its tools? Or
directly in Access? Or, was it ever opened in Access?
