I have a Word 2000 mail merge document that works perfectly. It's
results are sent to a separate document. However, when I first open
the mail merge document and before doing any merge, the document's
page shows the name and address information of what I think is the
database's first record on all the labels on the page. As an example,
what I see when I open the document is as follows ('name' is the
actual name of the person, addressx is the actual address of the
person):
Name
Address1
Address2
Address3
<<Next Record>>Name
Address1
Address2
Address3
<<Next Record>>Name
Address1
Address2
Address3
etc
etc
How can I insure that the actual names don't show up when the mail
merge document is first opened? I see the Mergefields fine when I hit
alt-F9.

If you have the 'View Merged Data' toggle set, this behaviour is normal.
