Letter mail merge word97 is fine but wordxp is the pits.
1) The number data in xp is unformateded e.g. 20 number beyond the
decimal pointe when the data source (access or excel) is formated for 2
decimal points. Works fine in 97 but cannot run 97 and xp on same
computer.
2) XP will not allow the use of queries as the files are being merged.
97 allows queries and sorting even for excel data.
SOMEONE MISSED THE BOAT ON THIS ONE!!!

Microsoft has merely changed the default connection method between Word and
other Office products and so Word is now expected to provide the formatting.
You can revert to the old method or work with it. See the Excel data section
of http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm

Just read this post about wordXP.

I am trying to merge excel figures in GBPounds into a
wordXP document and have had the same problem.  By
formatting the excel column to currency or accounting and
inserting the £ sign you lose the decimal points but if
the pence is exactly to 10p i.e. £134.40 it shows as £134.4

Does any one have the solution, short of formatting the
spreadsheet to text and manually adding a 0 after each
missing item?

Thanks.

Paul

The answer is in the thread to which you attached your question, however
there is a simple method to deal with this issue - see
