Access 2000 merging into Word XP

I created a very simple data database basically consisting
of names and a date.  I then wrote a query to list the
names of people who attended an event on a specific date.
The query works perfectly.  However, if I try and link a
Microsoft Letter to the query, it appears as if everything
is working fine.  When I click on the document that is
linked to the table in access 200 I run int problems.  In
the past, I received a date prompt from Access 2000.
However that date prompt is not appearing.  Furthermore,
when I merge the information to a new document is put all
the data from the main table into the document as opposed
to the information the query should grab.  The query and
merged worked perfectly when I was using Word 2000.  The
problem started when I began using Word XP.  If anyone has
any idea, I would be thankful for any input.

THe only simple way to get this to work is to change the way Word 2002
connects to Access to be the same as the way Word 2000 does it (DDE):

Check Word Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversion at open", go through
the connection process again and select the DDE option when prompted.

You may also find that you cannot see the Access prompt dialog box unless
you switch to Access (e.g. using Alt-tab) - it can look as if Word has hung.
