After upgrading to XP from W2K my Word 2000 mail merge
docs won't ope their data source (a dbf database)
anymore. I get a msg like "Word cannot open this data
source." Worked fine prior to the windows upgrade. Thanx
for any help.

Did you or do you have an earlier version of Corel
WordPerfect on your computer?  Prior to Corel 11, the
Corel mapi address book will cause a conflict with
Outlook address book.  You need to go into the Control
Panle, Mail and review your exisiting address books to
see what is there.

My guess would be that the correct ODBC driver is no longer
present.

Are you able to set up a new merge to this data source?

If you go to the Administrative Tools/ODBC Manager in the
Control Panel, do you see DBF drivers listed?

It's important to keep in mind that DBF is a "standardized"
format, used by various programs. But one program my
generate a slightly different "flavor" of data file that a
particular ODBC driver or DSN based on a driver can't
interpret correctly.

You might try downloading and installing an mdac (Microsoft
data access) pack from microsoft.com. I'm not certain which
version to recommend, though. Perhaps the manufacturer of
the program that's generating these dbf files can tell you
what you need?

Thanks, Cindy. The MS dbase driver is installed but I
can't even create a new merge doc linked to this data
source. I'll see if there's any help at the Lotus site.
