How do I merge a currency value from an Excel database
into a word document and retain the dollar sign, the
comma separation, and the 0s to the right of the decimal?

It always helps if you tell us the version of Word
involved. I'm guessing this may be 2002 or 2003? In that
case, you can read up on the problem and find various
approaches to solve it in the Word 2002 section of my
website's mail merge fAQ.
