I am a fairly knowledgeable Word User (through 2000 and some XP)

However, in working with a client who has Word 2003 -- we tried to do a
simple Mail Merge (from Excel) to do mailing labels.  Absolutely could not
get them to run.

Any hints?  Mail Merge seems quite a bit different... 2003 from 2000 that is
(or even XP)

I would welcome any advice.

Kate: We use both 2000 and 2002 (XP) and 2000 is far better for mail merge.
