I am trying to mailmerge in Word 2002 with data from an
Access database (Access 2002 but database is in 2000
format). When I go to select the crossstab query that has
the data I need it is not listed in the possible tables.
There are quite a few queries that are not listed in
the 'Select Table' window, select queries as well as
crosstabs.  Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Terri,

Not all query types are available for use as mailmerge datasources, crosstab
queries being one of them.  However if you open the query in Access, click
in the top left corner to select everything and then right click and select
Copy, then open Excel and put the cursor in Cell A1 and right click and
select Paste, you will get the data in the same format.  You can then use
Excel as the datasource.

In 2002 I have found that paramater queries do not show
in the select tables/queries window.  This is a
documented problem.  I've found that if you go back to
the query and take out the parameter (don't use a
bracketed select statement), then merge it to your word
document and save, you can then go back to the query and
put the parameter back in and it will work.
