I made a data source and save it. Now when I go to open
it back up to add info a get a messege saying it can not
open "the data source" it is a main doc. Now a have saved
it in Excel and can open it up in a word mail merge, but
would like to get it back as a data source in word.

Start Word.

Open the document you were using as a data source (i.e. just open it as a
Word document).

If you are using Word 2000 or earlier, you should see the mail merge toobar.
Click the mailmergehelper icon and use the first button to turn the document
back into a normal, non-mail merge document. If you are using Word 2002 or
later, you may not see the mail merge toolbar. You can enable it using
Tools|Customize. Then use the first button to make the document a normal
document.

Close the document.
