When mail merging from excel, word is showing way more
decimals then exist in excel. eg excel is 10.10 and word
shows 10.99999999999999999

Toggle on the field codes with Alt+F9 and add the following numeric picture
switch inside the closing } of the offending mergefield
\# "0.00"
