How do I regain the edit data source in mail merge if using a pre-existing access database?

Probably the simplest method to recover /an/ editing capability - assuming
you have Access on your system - is to change the connection method to DDE
(check Word Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversions at open", go through
the connection process again, and choose the DDE option when prompted).

Or you can use the ODBC connection method and reply yes to the "Use MS
Query" prompt when you try to Edit in the Recipients box.

But it isn't very nice.
