here i am, a mail merge newbie hoping for some help.

I have a set of four postcards that i've created on a regular Word doc
page (they divide a single 8.5x11 sheet into four).

Within each postcard is the mail merge fields for address.  But only
the 1st record is showing on all four on every page.  i believe Word
usually uses the page break to indicate a new record... how can I
force this so that each postcard (4 to a page) shows a different
record?

ALSO, i tried using the electronic postage function in Word XP but it
seems buggy.  first Word said that i didn't have any electronic
postage systems installed, and woud I like to open a browser to find
some.  when i clicked yes, it said error opening browser.

so i went to stamps.com, signed up for an account and downloaded the
software, but i still get the same error.

when i try clicking on the stamps.com icon directly in the word
toolbar, it tells me that it could not continue because some mandatory
fields were missing (it gives me this error even if i rename all the
address fields to be exactly what stamps.com says is missing).  anyone
else have these types of problems?  plain old stamps seem so easy
right now.... i might have to pick a few of those up!

Hi DROdio,

In the mail merge toolbar you should see a button labelled "Insert
Word field".

Position the cursor at the very beginning of the second card. Click
this button and choose the "Next record" entry. This inserts a NEXT
field which will tell Word to move to the next record in the data set.

Repeat the above steps for all the other cards (except the first, of
course).

I'm afraid I can't help you with the validations/Stamps.com stuff.
