Use "Enter" at the end of the Line to supress the line if empty Use
"Shift+Enter" at the end of the line to always print the line
Just a Workaround I think, maybee someone has a better solution

Yes it is, e.g. re-enable the old MailMergeHelper via
Word Tools|Customize|Commands, select category All COmmands, locate
MailMergeHelper in the list of commands and drag it to a toolbar or menu.
But...Word XP does behave differently from Word 2000 and earlier - e.g.,
when fields are nested inside an { IF } filels, blank lines are not removed
in Word 2002 as they were in Wrod 2000.
