I need to print about 5000 addresses on my dot matrix printer, using a continuous fan-fold box of labels
I can't seem to get Word to recognise it as continuous paper. It keeps doing a form feed after about 12 inches
I have made the top and bottom margin, header and footer = 0 cm
I even tried to create a custom paper exactly the size of 1 label - 8.9cm x 3.9cm. Yet it will form feed my paper
I am sure there's a simple step somewhere that I'm missing out
Can anyone help
Thank
Vicky

Is the dot matrix check box set in the label options dialog?
Is the printer dipswitch set to skip over perforations?

Hi Graham
I gave up on the dot-matrix and went for the costlier A4 labels on my laser printer. My dept urgently needed the mailing labels to inform clients of a product launch
But I'm just curious how I could make it work in future.
Yes, I have checked the Dot-matrix box in the labels option
I did not set any dipswitch. This NEC printer is able to print continous labels from my old database but not from Word Mailing labels
Would appreciate if you have any ideas. If not, it's ok
Thank
Vicky

It *may* be a limitation of the printer driver. Word is tied very closely to
the printer driver. See if there is an update.

A possibility - if you look at Word File|Page Setup do you see any options
that let you specify continuous paper feed (e.g. as a paper source) ?

I'm having the same problem. What I found is that the 12
inch label form (1-up, 12 labels per page) is not a
template with either of the dot matrix printers I have.
The Avery 4013 is the right size label, and it says 1 X
12, but the page size says 4.25" fanfold. I can merge
the labels, they look fine in Print Preview, but when I
print, it skips 2 inches after every 12 labels (1
sheet). The Skip Over on the printer is off (someone
else said to look at that). Has anyone else contacted
you on how to fix this? It worked fine under Windows 98,
but when we converted to XP, we can't get it to work.
I'm using Word 2002(10.4524.4219)SP-2
Thanks for any info you can offer. Gerry

Vicky,
I got labels to work on our Epson DFX-8000. I created
the label template with an Avery 4013 product number
which is 1-up by 12 down. Under File > Page Setup on the
Paper tab I selected Paper size of Fanfold 8.5 x 12 in.
For some reason by selecting this paper size instead of
leaving it at Custom size 4.25 x 12 in. it worked without
skipping 2 inches at the end of each 12 labels. One of
our technical support people printed the labels to a file
and said that when I had Custom size 4.25 x 12 in.
selected the page size was changed to 14 in. The same
thing happened on an OkiData printer that we have. When
I had the Fanfold 8.5 x 12 in. selected though it
worked. I don't know what make your printer is, but try
changing the paper size & see if it works for you.
I think Graham was right when he said it was the driver.
I sure would like to know of a good dot matrix printer
that has an XP driver that works with one-up labels. If
you hear of one, please reply back to me. Gerry
