Hey Graham, I have used your site, and it does work. The
problem is it is way too cumbersome for one of my
executive team to do every time they have to do a merge.
Is there a "fix" for this that is a bit more permanent?

There is nothing cumbersome about using a field mask - If your 'executive'
team can't respond to a touch of training, they are being paid too much. The
only other option is to change the way Word connects to the data file -
linked from the same page - but this is even more complex.
