If the database is updated with new lines of information
on which you are creating this directory, will you have to
enter all of the header information every single time you
re-create the directory? If so, has this situation been
improved in Word 2003?

If you are suffering from the problem where you want to put header
information at the beginning of a catalog/directory merge but however you do
it, each record in the catalog is then output in a separate table row, then
Word 2003 does not change anything in that area as far as I know.

If you are talking about headers in the data source (or anything else),
maybe you could spell out what format you are using to store your data and
what problem you are encountering.
