I have a Word Template that I use for mail merge. The
problem is when I attach a new data source it wipes out
all my formatting switches in the merge fields. Is there
any way to retain them without having to manually insert
the switches every time I use the template?

Hi Amy,
Could you please explain EXACTLY how you're adding the
formatting switches, please? How are you "using" the
template (what commands)? You are adding the switches to the
*template*, and not to a document created from the template?
What version of Word are we dealing with? And what's the
data source?
