When setting up the Mail Merge per KB 211303, I used an Access database for the table data and a query to filter and sort. But when I run the mailmerge, each record generates a "Section Break (Next Page)"

Is there any way to control this default behavior?

Did you use a catalog (or in word XP and later) a directory type mailmerge
main document?  I just tried it using an Access query as the data source
without any problems.

Doug

Seems I missed that step, but that opens the question, what properties of the document change between the two? Or to ask the question another way, how would I format the document manually

If you execute the mailmerge to a letter, a section break is inserted after
the letter created for each record.  With a Catalog or Directory type merge,
a new paragraph is created for each record.

Forgot to mention that as the data is in Access, I would use an Access
report instead.
