I'm having myriad problems with mail merge since I
upgraded to Office XP. My OS is Windows XP.
I have an inventory database in Acces that used to merge
easily and correctly with my Word files for labels,
invoices, etc., and now nothing works correctly. Here are
two of the biggest problems:
1. When I look at an Access table or query in Word, the
information in some fields has shifted left into the
wrong fields, producing bizarre results. I leave some of
my fields blank for various reasons, but not all
information shifts because the field to the left is
blank, and this has only started happening recently.
2. Currency values that are whole dollars do not have
trailing zeros. I can't just put in two zeros in the
field options because some prices are fractions of
dollars. These fractional amounts come over without the
final zero and with the decimal point replaced by a space.
There are more problems, but these are the most
significant ones. I'm on the verge of reinstalling Office
2000 and going back to no mail merge woes.

The Excel data section of
http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm will show you how
to fix this. The issue with Access is the same as for Excel - as is the
solution.
