Hallo,

I use Access as a basis voor my Word mailmerge. Is there a way to preserve
the (address) data from Access in my document on saving this document in
Word? Word keeps a active link to the Database. I don't want this. Meaning
saving the Word document should save it without the link but with the
(address) data intact. I now save a document as RTF that solves this issue.

But can it be done automatically? e.g a macro or that automatically saves as
RTF and resaves as DOC or someting or a macro that removes the Link with the
database but preserves the data?

Thanx in advance for any tips!

Regards,
Harmannus

Merge to a new document which will insert the address data into the document
or if it is the field information you want, then convert the document to a
normal word document before saving it. You will then have to attach a data
file before you merge again.

Hallo,

Thanx for the reply.

How do i convert a document linked to a Access database to "normal document"
to preserve the data but not the link?

You should be doing the first thing that Graham mentioned.   That is,
execute the merge to a new document and save that.  The new document will be
populated with the data from Access, but there will be no link to the
database.  The data will appear as normal text in the document.

Hallo,

Thanx for the reply!

I merge based on a .dot template. So the document is new. Saving this
document has a link to the database (what i do not want)..

If you create a merge document from a template it is simply a document copy
of the template. You still need to merge to a new document to produce a new
document containing record content and not fields.
