Don't include your email address in your posting. I opened
a new email account and listed it in the sender's email
for this newsgroup. Since yesterday I've received about 10
viruses from people associated with this newsgroup. The
reason I know is because this is the only place I've ever
given out my email address.

Here are the main culprits:

vmailautomat@puremail.net
dnfiyrqgkxinwuh-fhwjyhtn@xole.msdn.com
fmptat@bulletin.msn.com
tafocjq@jaeusgnk.microsoft.com
mailrobot@bigfoot.com
vemivly-bdgdxj@confidence.microsoft.com
webdaemon@aol.net

If you have a way of finding these people please BEAT the
PISS out of them.

It is common for spammers to trawl newsgroups (and web sites) for e-mail
addresses. It helps to use an altered or false address. Mailwasher will
control what comes into your mailbox www.firetrust.com

Those email addresses are almost certainly:

1.    Not associated with any users of these newsgroups

2.    Not valid email addresses.  If you try and send an email to any of
them, you will almost certainly get an undeliverable mail message.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested.  Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps

Only 10!!
When I did that I was getting about 300+ per day (finally changed my
e-mail address).

Always "munge" your address when posting to any ng.

isn't "munging" an address typing it like:

green _ chris [at] yahoo [dot] com

or something similar?

Yes. At its basic level this foils the address miners, but it is not
foolproof.

True enough, but as they say
"just when you make something foolproof the world invents a better fool"
