I create a small data base file to be merged into a
certficate which has been saved with fields in it.
My frustration hits an all time high when I want to use
this same data base to merge into "a second" and different
certificate which has also been saved with fields in it.
I have found a lengthy circuitous route to do this:
1) closing the first form file.
2) going to the mail merge helper in my data file
3) choosing edit data, then view source.
4) going to Tools, main document, create form letters, new
main document, and edit.
5) going to File, open and finally opening the second
certificate I want the data merged into.
6) Merge.
I think the problem is Word "associates" a data file with
only one form file. In WordPerfect, you can save your
data file, open it and merge it with any form file you
want! Voila! Easy! There must be an easy way in WORD
too.

Open your second main document. Use the merge helper to use that as your
main merge document and to link to your database.
