Mail Merge with moving data file

Hello everyone,
I'm using Word 2000 and have a question about the logistics of Mail Merge.
I have a Form Letter generated in word and have specified the source of the
data to a tab-delimited text file. Now whenever I generate the mail merge
document, Word picks up data from the previously specified data file, which
is fine so far.

Is it possible to perform mail merge and let the Word know of another
location of the data file? I'm trying to call Word from another
non-microsoft application using OLE objects. Can I call Word and let it know
which data file to use for mail merge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Junaid

Hi Junaid,

Use the [documentobject].MailMerge.OpenDataSource command

Thanks Doug, but I have a related question though. I am opening the document
using the OLE object command Open(<document_name>) and I have an AutoOpen()
macro in the document that runs the MailMerge command. How can I pass the
data file name from the OLE object to the document so that the AutoOpen
Macro would know about it. Is there another way to achieve what I'm trying
to do. Please bear in mind that I'm not very familiar with OLE programming.
I'm actually doing this from Powerbuilder.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks
Junaid
