I've tried this but I'm having trouble generating the
email.  Everything goes as it says but I don't get a sent
email.

BTW:  I'm using Office 2003 - does this work?

Questions:
1. Should I use the mail merge from Word or should I start
it in Outlook?
2. When I start the mail merge in Word I go to 'tools'
then 'letters and mailings' then 'mail merge'  which
docuemnt type do I pick: Letters, Email, Envelopes, Lables
or Directory?  I would assume directory but I'm not sure.
3. At what point do I start the macro?
A - From the 'select receipients' page?
B - from the 'write your letter' page?
C - from the 'preview your letters' page?
D - from the 'complete the merge' page?

As you can see I've been working super hard to get this
going but I'm running into a few brick walls...

Thanks for anyone who can help give a little hand.

Steve,

1.    The procedure was developed for mail merges started in Word.
2.    Use a letter type mail merge main document to contain the text that
you want mailed out.  You must execute that merge to a new document.  That
is after D.
3.    The macro is run when the document created by executing the merge is
the active document.   You must first however have executed the Directory
type mailmerge to a new document and have saved it so that it can be
selected when the File Open dialog is displayed by the macro.

Hello Doug,

I have tried to run the "emailmergewithattachments" macro from two
machines. One machine uses Word 97 and the other has Word 2000. I
receive the following error message from both machines:

Compile error: User defined-type not defined

The macros stops processing and an arrow points to the following line
in the code:

Dim oOutlookApp As Outlook.Application

Can you help me fix this problem by telling me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Greg

That indicates that you have not carried out the instructions in the first
paragraph under the heading of Preparations
"To run the macro in this procedure it is necessary to set a reference to
the Microsoft Office Outlook Object Library. You do this from within the
Visual Basic Editor, by selecting References from the Tool menu and then
checking the item Microsoft Office Outlook ##.0 Object Library (where ## is
the Outlook version number)."

Hi Doug,

Sorry, I thought I had set the correct reference to the Outlook
Library. Now that I've corrected my error I still seem to have a
problem with receiving e-mails or attachments. The macro appears to be
processing but displays the following message:

Ordinal 36 could not be located in the dynamic link library MAP132.DLL

How do I fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Greg,

Sorry, I know nothing about the inner workings of the MAPI32.dll.  All that
I could suggest is that you run a detect and repair on the software, or
possibly post this question to an Outlook newsgroup.

Hi,

I'm trying to get help with an error message related to the
MAP132.DLL. The orignal posting of this message began in the newsgroup
"microsoft.public.word.mailmerge.fields". A Word MVP suggested I
contact someone in an Outlook newsgroup for assistance.

My basic problem is the following error message:

"Ordinal 36 could not be located in the dynamic link library
MAP132.DLL".

Can you tell me what this error message means?

For your convenience, additional background information regarding the
orignial post can be found at the following weblink:

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Greg

Ordinal 36 or 136?

Something like that usually means that either Eudora or Simple MAPI is the
default mail handler or that MAPI is corrupted. Make sure Outlook is the
default mail and calendar handler in IE's Programs tab. If the problem
persists after rebooting delete MAPI*.* and do a detect and repair of
Office.
