Is it possible to set up a mail merge that uses both an
Excel spreadsheet and a Word document as data sources for
the same merge?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Lots of things are theoretically possible, but as a general principle it is
usually more practical to accept that your data must be in one format or
another (e.g. copy/paste Word tabular data into Excel or vice versa). Beyond
that. it is sometimes possible to combine dtaa sources directly using ODBC
or OLEDB, but although you can access Excel data using ODBC and OLEDB, as
far as I know you can only get at Word data using Word's internal
converters.
