We use an access database as our mail merge data source.  The database is
located on our server.  Whenever anyone clicks the "mail merge recipients"
button and then the "edit" button we get the following error message:  "The
operation cannot complete because of dialog or database engine failures".

We noticed that this message usually only appeared when more than one person
was using the mail merge feature at the same time (we work in a very small
office so it usually isnt a problem) but now it does it everytime.  Does
anyone know why?  I assume we have just set something up wrong, none of us
are very good with this sort of thing.

Hi Vpm,

We need more information:

1. Version of Word and of Access

2. Version of Windows on the client machine(s)

3. Type of network

4. Any more information you have about the database server (or the server the
database is located on)

The person I passed this on to suspects the problem is a file lockdown, and
that you may need an update for the version of Windows...
