Mailmerge fails with .csv file as a data source

Word complains that it cannot open a .csv file as a merge
data source. It doesn't matter whether I'm using the
MailMerge wizard or VB code to initiate source open
process.

.xls works fine.

Version of Word? Please quote the exact message you're
getting.
